Depth and Velocity
DO NOT ENTER FAST FLOWING STREAMS - ESPECIALLY AFTER HEAVY RAINS OR IF UNACCOMPANIED!!
A) Make best estimate of depth or note "unsafe to measure depth".
B) Check each type of flow you see. An easy way of measuring flow is to throw a stick - or spit
(yes - spit!) into the creek and watch the flow.
Riffles and Runs
Look for water surfaces that are broken - or show rippling. If you do not see riffles or runs, do not fear... currently, many areas of the Busseron Creek Watershed have no riffles or runs. But give us time!
