CQHEI Section I - Substrate

Substrate Size

If the majority of the streambed is one size, check one.

But what if half of the stream has fist-sized and smaller rocks and half is silty - similar to the photo shown in the Smothering and Silting section of this page??

- Check both and take an average (10pt + 0pt / 2 = 5pt)

Smothering and Silting

Currently, most streams in the Busseron Creek Watershed are heavily sedimented. Smothered - think buried rock and gravel. Silted - think soft, muddy bottom.
